Monochromatic ♡ Cosplay

problemI’ve been putting it off for long enough now. Dutch Comic Con is in two weeks and I am far, far, far (!) from ready. I’ve been trying to avoid it, but it’s really time for me to start working on my cosplay.

Not too long ago Dani and I went out to the fabric market in Utrecht and gathered a few yards of fabric for our upcoming projects. I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for, but I got some fabric I ended up liking, and I definitely didn’t want to go home empty handed. Work has been a little slow and because I had all this extra time I started on making a draft dress for my cosplay and slowly work towards the final dress. I am definitely proud of my straight seams so far, and loving the black and white.

I’ve got one less problem now ;)

Goals for the new year

We’re almost one month into the new year, but I’m still super excited to set a few goals for myself. Since December I’ve been working hard to go to the gym at least once a week and getting a bit in shape. Not necessarily trying to lose weight, but just trying to be a little more healthy and a little less lazy.

To motivate myself I promised myself a present once I complete my first goal. I set a goal of doing a minimal of three workouts a week, for the whole month of February. I am super stoked to start working hard, eat healthier and drink a lot more water. To help myself a little with keeping track of the progress, I created these cute printable square workout plans for each month.

Each square has the amount of weeks for that month (horizontal), and three boxes for each week (vertical). The first square has a list of activities and mini workouts I can do, each activity highlighted with a different color. Once I completed a workout I will color one of the boxes for that week with the highlight of the activity that I completed. To keep everything nice and organised I got a small notebook and pasted all of the squares in it, this way I can always look back at my progress and mix and match my workouts so I won’t be doing the same activities over and over again.

I love getting myself excited with cute little printables like this, let me know in the comments if any of you guys would like this workout plan as a free printable!

Winter Pastels

I love pastels and I love a new manicure. Back in the states I stocked up on a few new colors of gel polish. This is Sensationail’s Lilac Heirloom, a really light pastel purple color. I hadn’t had any time to try this one out yet, so the first thing before new years was giving myself a new manicure. You know, just to start the new year fresh.

My NYE was a quiet one, I didn’t do anything too crazy. Together with my family we stayed at a hotel to begin the new year together. We watched the fireworks at midnight and I got to chit chat on the phone with my boyfriend for a few hours as well that night, which made the new year already special to me. Unfortunately I’ve been sick and am still recovering from a very sore throat and a stuffy head. But, I’m looking forward to 2015.

I’m excited and am sure that it’ll be a blessed year.

Do you trust me? ♡ Cosplay

From mermaid-princess to a princess on a magic carpet. I actually never planned to do a Jasmine cosplay but got convinced last year to make another Disney princess come to life. This is me in my Arabian princess costume. I wore this Jasmine, Disney’s Aladdin, cosplay at Animecon 2014, The Hague. This costume is the first costume I really made from scratch, the first time making a pattern and making my own harem pants and bandeau-ish top. I loved how it turned out and even got complimented on my cosplay by cosplayer Yaya Han – I still can’t believe that I finally got to see her in person and have a little chat with her. She’s such a sweetheart and inspiring person!

Of course the wig for Jasmine was horror, but I loved working on it. I used a black lining fabric that I stuffed with some plushie stuffing, draped the hair around it and sew the hair together. I know it sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is. Though I loved working on this costume I see a lot of room for improvement, I just started learning how to make my cosplays and I really want to update my Jasmine costume sometime in the future.

I’m not sure what my next cosplay will be, but I’m definitely not done cosplaying princesses.

Fancy falsies for Christmas

First of all – Merry Christmas – Hope you all had a blessed one, I surely did. First thing in the morning we had a family breakfast, after that it was getting to church and spending a very blessed day together with my brothers and sisters in Christ. That evening I went home with a terrible headache, but got to spend a few good hours chatting with the potato boyfriend – and the both of us falling in and out of sleep during the call.

This was my christmas look this year. I wanted to try something new and something a little fancy. Let me break down my look for you: Urban Decay – Primer Potion, Urban Decay – Naked 3 Palette, Benefit Cosmetics – Big Easy BB Cream, Benefit Cosmetics – They’re Real Push Up Liner, L’oreal – Miss Manga Mascara, Gosh – Eyebrow Kit, as well as a random eyebrow pencil and some big false eye lashes.
